Dot, dot, dot...

This sentence is really, really long and eventually it will be cut...

off by an ellipsis, which is not the same as ellipses – the plural of ellipse, which is another word for circle and oval. 

Oddly enough, the plural of ellipse, the circle, is the same as the plural of ellipsis. 
More odd than that is the fact that an ellipses is a series of three ellipses.

An ellipse in simple terms is an oval. The plural format of an ellipse is ellipses.

The ellipsis (…) also known informally as dot-dot-dot, is a series of dots, or periods, that indicate an intentional omission of a word, sentence, or whole section from a text without altering its original meaning.
